New Features introduced in OptiBPM 11
NEW FEATURE Scanning Paramters Dialog
Implemented in both OptiBPM and in OptiMode, this new dialog box makes multi-variable scanning of user parameters easy to specify. The box can accommodate as many user parameters as desired. They can be arranged as co-varying, or as independent variables for scanning in two dimensions or more.

NEW FEATURE Layout View In OptiMode
There is a new tab in the Cross Section Designer that shows the ideal waveguide geometry. In previous versions, only the refractive index distribution after application of the mesh was displayed. The Layout View is especially useful when making more complicated layouts, as seen in applications such as the Photonic Crystal Fiber.

NEW FEATURE Graphical Display Features For Parameter Scans In OptiMode
Associated with the scanning parameter dialog box in OptiMode, is the option to specify graphs of the data that will appear in the OptiMode Analyzer. A second parameter can also be included that will make a graph with many curves with the second parameter value in the Legend of the graph. This kind of display shows the trends in the solutions that will enhance the search for optimum designs.

NEW FEATURE Optimizer For OptiMode
When the scanning and graphical displays have narrowed the search, the Optimizer can be used to find the optimum result. The Optimizer uses the Golden Search method for one parameter optimization. Multi-parameter searches use either the Modified Powell direction set search or the Nelder-Mead Simplex method.

NEW FEATURE Running OptiMode Simulators In Batch Mode
The batch processing feature provides the ability to run solvers overnight, during downtime, or while continuing to work on other projects. A batch file is made that specifies a series of device layouts that were designed with the OptiMode designer. The command line specifies which OptiMode solver is to be applied. The result is a series of OptiMode Analyzer files that can be reviewed later.
